From the moment you step inside, you are enveloped in an atmosphere that feels both cozy and inviting. Patrons rave about the churros, which are said to be truly exceptional. Customer reviews highlight how these churros stand apart from others—no greasy aftertaste here! The texture is perfectly crispy, with a golden brown exterior that gives way to a soft, airy center. Whether you opt for them plain or filled with decadent options like dulce de leche, cajeta, or a luscious chocolate, each bite leaves you craving more.
Hot chocolate is a necessary companion to these irresistible treats. The French-style hot chocolate, mentioned by many satisfied customers, boasts a thick, velvety consistency that pairs elegantly with the churros. Imagine dipping a freshly made churro into this rich concoction—it’s pure bliss for your taste buds. The options for chocolate are plentiful, making it a delightful experience for those who appreciate a good drink.
However, be prepared to wait in line, especially during peak hours, as word has spread about the excellence of Chocolates y Churros San Agustin. Customers suggest arriving early to avoid lengthy waits, and they are not wrong. The buzz of excitement and the fragrant aroma of frying churros might even make the wait enjoyable. While the small size of the establishment may lead to a bustling environment, the attentive and friendly staff work swiftly to serve patrons, ensuring that the flow remains largely seamless.
It’s worth noting the cash-only policy that has been a topic of discussion among regulars. Some may see this as an inconvenience, yet it adds to the charming, traditional vibe of the place. “ The best churros I’ve had in my life. It was so addicting and just overall delicious. A lot of churros I’ve had before just feel too oily and I don’t go beyond 1 piece but this one, no. I could have had more pieces if I didn’t just come from a big meal. It was really that good. We also had an iced latte and iced chocolate and they had different options for the chocolate but we for the iced one, I think this is the only option. It was the French chocolate one and it was also delicious. Perfectly refreshing and perfectly paired with the churro. I would go back to SMDA just for this alone. ”
“ Get there early. If you don't wanna stand online for a long time. The lines can go down the building, but we got there early in the morning. Since we saw the line late at night, the churros are delicious, and you can get them filled with different creams or plain. We had them playing with hot chocolate, and dipped them in and they were exquisite. ”
“ Fresh made churros and hot chocolate is hard to beat! This place is small and popular so it feels kinda rushed in and out and so everything is a little sticky as well. Honestly this place would be really helped by a quick service counter/window. ”
“ Well it definitely lived up to it's reputation as the best churros in SMA! I had a sencillo and a stuffed one with cajeta. It was really delicious and I highly recommend this place. Just keep in mind, they only take cash, no cards. ”
“ Delicious churros I got mine filled with dulce de leche, but they also have chocolate, cajeta, and plain! I also recommend getting a hot chocolate to go along with it! I got the French styled hot chocolate which is the thickest in consistency & it is so delicious, still dreaming about it. You can sit inside but there’s also a small plaza in front if you want to take your order to-go which is what I did. Staff was so kind and welcoming & service is fast! Also note that they only take cash. ”
